00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:29,000
So I was gonna get on here and talk about the law of attraction and how there's so many people like us out there and you just have to wait and wait for them to come or in my case like today how there was a person sitting right across the room for me the entire semester who was excelling for success, striving for success and I didn't even realize it until today and I only have like three more days left.
2
00:00:30,000 --> 00:00:48,000
So that's what I was gonna talk about but I wanna talk about something different. The importance of having discipline during your work because I knew the discipline was important and I was extremely disciplined.
3
00:00:48,000 --> 00:01:17,000
I remember over the summer, especially over the past couple years I was extremely disciplined with my exercise and my fitness like whenever I would do a challenging workout I'd always be like alright let's do it and especially over this past summer I really developed a lot of discipline in the physical sense and I would go to the park with my friend pretty much every day and a lot of days we would do hard workouts
4
00:01:17,000 --> 00:01:32,000
and I'd just be like alright let's do it and then we'd do it and that was the discipline that I developed in the physical sense and then when I was getting into entrepreneurship I kinda realized that I did not have the same discipline when I came to entrepreneurship.
5
00:01:32,000 --> 00:02:01,000
And I remember going to a business conference or I don't know if I went to the business conference yet but I remember I think it was when I read a book by Russell Brunson and I noticed that he had the alright let's do it mentality when it came to exercise because he talked about in his books he talked about how he was a wrestler and he was an all-American
6
00:02:01,000 --> 00:02:22,000
which is actually extremely impressive. You have to be like in the top eight in the nation to be an all-American. Like the top eight best wrestlers in the nation. So that's extremely impressive and so he definitely had the alright let's do it mindset when it came to working out
7
00:02:22,000 --> 00:02:39,000
and then he also had the alright let's do it mindset when it came to entrepreneurship and so when I wrote it down I literally just wrote down a kind of a t-chart or kind of like a table for like a data table
8
00:02:39,000 --> 00:02:59,000
and I wrote down my name and then Russell Brunson's name and then on the top column I wrote down exercise and then the next column was entrepreneurship and then I labeled this chart alright let's do it mindset
9
00:02:59,000 --> 00:03:14,000
and then I basically checked off the physical sense and the entrepreneur sense on Russell Brunson's graph and then I only checked off the physical sense on my graph
10
00:03:14,000 --> 00:03:31,000
and so I wrote down right next to the graph develop this and I put an arrow to the entrepreneur sense so basically I said I must work on developing this alright let's do it mindset when it comes to work and entrepreneurship
11
00:03:31,000 --> 00:03:51,000
and I've definitely started to develop it a lot more especially in the recent weeks or months because I noticed that my discipline has been getting extremely high and then now when I'm doing my work I'm starting to take it a lot more seriously
12
00:03:51,000 --> 00:04:07,000
with the stories I'm telling with all the different things I'm doing and so when I'm doing the work I know that a couple weeks ago I would always kind of go on YouTube and distract myself and just waste some time
13
00:04:07,000 --> 00:04:26,000
and I realized that that is actually just extremely bad so I just cut out YouTube entirely and what I found was I am so much better off now like I my discipline is a lot higher with doing the work
14
00:04:26,000 --> 00:04:50,000
and I'm able to get in the flow state a lot better because I came down here in the basement at probably three to three fifteen around that time today and it's four forty five and I'm still editing my video and I completely forgot that I still wanted to record today
15
00:04:50,000 --> 00:05:08,000
and usually I record around four or four thirty at the latest and it's four forty five and I'm still editing my video so that just goes to show the importance of discipline because when I sat down I had that urge to watch YouTube
16
00:05:08,000 --> 00:05:25,000
like I was like oh I could watch YouTube but I stopped myself from doing that and I got in the flow state and as a result I literally just knocked out like an hour and a half of like editing this video that I'm working on right now
17
00:05:25,000 --> 00:05:42,000
an hour and a half of editing this video just like that and I didn't even realize the time passed by like that is the value of deep work and discipline a combination of the two because discipline allows you to initiate your work
18
00:05:42,000 --> 00:06:04,000
and then deep work allows you to get deep into the work and it's funny because I've never read any books about discipline or deep work except for maybe the unplugged alpha which I'm not even sure if it was about discipline and then also maybe the four hour work week which gave some productivity tips
19
00:06:04,000 --> 00:06:23,000
but other than that I haven't really read any books about them it's just been tips that I've picked up from my friend and from YouTube and this Christmas I'm asking for a couple books and one of them is called discipline is destiny
20
00:06:23,000 --> 00:06:42,000
which is a book about discipline and then another one is called deep work and that book is about getting into focused work like deep work so I'm going to be learning about discipline and deep work and just strengthening this knowledge that I have and understanding
21
00:06:42,000 --> 00:06:59,000
so that's I just wanted to talk about that because this is going to be a shorter episode because like I said I got on here at 445 because I was in such a deep work and I just wanted to share the value of deep work and discipline
